What is TEDx?
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called TEDxKingsCollegeLondon, where x = independently organized TED event. At our TEDxKingsCollegeLondon event, TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized.
TEDxKingsCollegeLondon will bring together specialists from a wide array of disciplines to generate thought-provoking discussion around the theme of identity, health and culture.
Our theme aims to explore how, both as individuals and members of society, we are continually evolving and altering how we view ourselves and the world around us. We aim to demonstrate how the separate entities ‘identity, health and culture’ are, in reality, inextricably linked. Knowledge and ideas shape who we are and hence, simultaneously we have the ability to build upon this to shape our culture.
Our renowned panel will draw on their individual expertise to explore questions such as: Are the concepts of identity fixed? What about culture? What role does our health play? They will guide the audience on a thought process to help answer these while formulating more probing questions along the way.
TEDxKingsCollegeLondon will be conducted in an environment where enthusiasm, willingness to learn and to contribute, unabated optimism and trust within our capacity as individuals to impact and change the world are the norm.
